Enroute To Aladna by AkenBosch Enroute To Aladna by AkenBosch
Something new finally :)

Started as a test for very hi-res images (original 7500x5625)...but I worked on it quite a lot, so decided to make it a final image ;)

Not that much composition or background maybe, but....well, I like it that way for now...and that's also my first shot at 3D rendering...no more in-game screenshots! :D

Ships and station models, as usual, from X3 Reunion...main planet in photoshop, moon made in 3DSmax.

Also first time from me, a pack is available with 1280-1600-2048 resolution images (click download!)

Enjoy!
...enjoy?

:P

- EDIT -

Updated .zip file, added 16:10 resolutions!
Enjoy wide! :)

How did you get so high quality to that biggest planet...? It's very foucused and realistic. I don't use any 3D programs because I'm not very good at them.. So I'm making my own Sci-Fi pictures with photoshop. But always when I try to make big high quality planets (like that big planet in this picture), the quality will be poor and blurry.. What is the secret of that? :D

Well, actually the foreground planet is the only thing that's entirely made in photoshop in this image :D (anyway, I'm not good at 3D neither, I just know what's needed to make a sphere, put some light and textures, and render it  ...ship models are imported from X3 game and they're originally from Egosoft, I "only" set up scenes and lighting)...

About the secret of sharpness, it's all about making an insanely huge canvas (the best my ram could get at the time, about 16k x 16k pixels :o, mostly of Moon and Mars stocks), and then cropping, distorting and applying perspective until obtaining something a lot smaller and a lot detailed :)
